October is audio theater month, culminating in All Hallows Eve, a night which has been special to radio drama ever since Orson Welles’ legendary War of the Worlds performance in 1938.
That tradition continues today. In 2011, for the second year in a row, six leading independent audio theater companies from around the world are collaborating to present Transcontinental Terror: An Express Train to Audio Horror!
Transcontinental Terror will offer an evening of terrifying audio programming, beginning on Halloween night at 7PM EDT and running until 1:00PM EDT, as the train careens to its bloody end on the Pacific Coast.
This is the single largest event in the world of audio theater, and the only time each year a group of independent producers unite to create a whopping six hours of original programming. And you can hear it all hear on Halloween night—Monday, October 31st, 2011.
Contributing production companies include:
- The Wireless Theatre Company (London, England)
- Electric Vicuna Productions (Halifax, Nova Scotia)
- FinalRune Productions (Portland, Maine)
- Chatterbox Audio Theater (Memphis, Tennessee)
- Icebox Radio Theater (International Falls, Minnesota)
- The Willamette Radio Workshop (Portland, Oregon)
Each group will offer up an original work of inventive, imaginative audio horror, guaranteed to bring some genuine terror to your Halloween night. Browse this website to learn more about each group, the shows they will be presenting, and how YOU can help us spread the word!
